Topic #1:   SharePoint Governance – Key Considerations
Name of speakers & organization:   Janis Hall and Ricardo Palhano, MetroStar

Planning Governance can be a key factor in the success or failure of a sustainable SharePoint implementation.  In this session, Janis and Ricardo will overview some of the key functional and organizational considerations, highlighting proper planning, as well as some of the common pitfalls.  Looking through the lens of the Business Executive, session content will provide insight on broad planning concepts that should be considered in any installation.

Janis Hall, SharePoint Instructor, combines more than 10 years of technical knowledge with business acumen when working with organizations on needs analysis and delivery for custom support models, system integration and upgrades, process analysis, and the design and implementation of collaborative sites. In her previous work at Mindsharp, and now as a MetroStar Systems Instructor, Janis incorporates her passion for SharePoint and its countless benefits into viable, innovative classes that provide students with both technical know-how and concepts of functional benefits. In her 10 years with a technical consulting firm, Janis has applied her expertise in various roles including that of a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Analyst. With an admittedly quirky and outgoing personality, Janis has a particular enthusiasm for working with people. Her varied technical background provides Janis with a uniquely broad perspective on how technology is learned, adapted, and applied.

Ricardo Palhano, Senior Systems Architect at MetroStar, holds a Bachelor of Science (BS), Applied Information Technology from George Mason University with experience as a SharePoint architect and systems integrator since SharePoint 2003. His recent projects include the Marines.mil Team Lead/ SharePoint Architect for the largest Marines Corps public facing website with 600 internal users and millions of hits per day.
