Keynote: Evolution of the SharePoint Platform and New Solutions
Presenting: Enforce Governance by Provisioning Sites with Workflows
Ed Hild is the Technology Architect at the Microsoft Technology Center in Reston, VA specializing in Portal and Collaboration solutions. At the MTC, he meets daily with both commercial- and public-sector customers to discuss business requirements and map them to the Microsoft platform. He helps customers understand product features, best practices, and necessary customizations for them to realize SharePoint's full potential. Ed has previously presented at Microsoft Dev Days, SharePoint Conference 2008, and Tech Ed events as well as many local area user groups. He recently published an advanced SharePoint developer book through Apress entitled: Pro SharePoint Solution Development.
Presentation Abstract:
Learn how your organization can implement workflows to provision sites. This session covers the importance of sites vs. site collections and their relationship to content databases. Site taxonomies are very important and most organizations want control of site provisioning, yet don't want to hamper the time-to-live of a site request. Learn how to implement a custom Microsoft Visual Studio .NET workflow for provisioning site collections, as well as a provisioning activity in Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer that can be given to a site collection administrator. Also see how you can leverage the out-of-the-box workflows in a provisioning strategy.
Webmaster Comment:
Though Ed probably won't bring it up, he received a 2007 "Circle of Excellence award at Microsoft"
and had the Photo-Ops shown in his Blog
