Presenting: A Management and Governance Approach to MOSS Implementation
- Gary worked as a career Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Agency for
International Development from 1979 to 2006, with postings in Latin America,
Egypt and Washington D.C.
- During the last 10 years of his career he designed and managed
IT-related programs in developing countries, and promoted the application
of knowledge management and collaboration technology throughout the Agency.
- Since 2007, he has worked as SharePoint Advisor with Worldwide
Information Network Services (WINS), under contract to the Office of
eDiplomacy in the Department of State. His work there focuses on
SharePoint strategic planning, governance architecture and adoption
approaches. In addition to his work at State, he has completed lessons
learned studies on SharePoint implementations by over 30 public and
private sector organizations in the Washington D.C. area and overseas.
- He holds a Masters in Computer Systems Administration from University
of Maryland University College, an MBA from the George Washington University,
an MA in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced
International Studies, and a BA from Hamilton College.
Presentation Abstract:
Managers and users have to gain acceptance and then actively monitor
a SharePoint implementation or it will not succeed. This presentation
explores how a sound strategic, governance and management approach can
help assure ultimate SharePoint adoption and results, especially in complex
public and private sector organizations. Issues addressed will include
stakeholder analysis, roles and responsbilities, and phasing of deployment
