Panel member : Lessons Learned from SharePoint Deployments
Kevin Hans is the manager of the Knowledge Management unit for the American Red Cross. In this role he is responsible for the organization’s Best Practice System, its Neighborhoods (communities of practice) work, and periodic performance improvement benchmarking projects. While working at the American Red Cross, Mr. Hans also has had extensive experience with restructuring work processes.Prior to joining the American Red Cross in 1995, Mr. Hans worked at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the General Accounting Office. He was also a member of the 1993 National Performance Review. Mr. Hans was a contributor to The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Knowledge Management by Melissie Rumizen. He earned his BA in Political Science at Buffalo State College and his MPA at American University.
Presentation Abstract:
The presentation will focus on the use of Microsoft SharePoint by the American Red Cross for its Neighborhoods (communities of practice) program. Emphasis will be placed on the start up of the program in 2003, the upgrade to MOSS 2007, and a recent knowledge retention effort undertaken during a major staff reduction.
